HEART TO HEART TALKS
(By Berry N. Bones)
My Dear Miss Bones:
The coffee we get tastes like mud. What is the matter with it?
C. F. G.
If it tastes like mud, Frank, you are getting ground coffee.
My Dear Berry:
How will Ray Wolfe come out in his English exam? I am 16 years old.
What do you think of my writing ? Cletus H.
Cletus, dear, he will get a punk mark. What chance has he got when
Mr. Bashe even criticizes Shakespeare? Your writing is fair, but a trifle
out of plumb.
Miss Bones:
Will you please settle a dispute between Carp and myself? What makes
the sea salty ? L. A. R.
Why Louie! Have you forgotten all of your geography? It is on account of the codfish in it.
Dear Berry:
Please tell me why Tony bought glasses ?
To wear to the 1917 Revue, they say.
A. Junior.
Dear Miss Bones:
Why are the Juniors like thin mackerel ?
Because they are poor fish, I guess.
My Dear Miss Bones:
As I was passing Hollenrake's room last night the brute winked at me.
What shall I do about it ? I am very much worried as I am almost alone in
the world. Paula.
Don't worry about it Paula, he won't do it when he knows you better.
Miss B. N. Bones—Dear Madam:
What is the matter with my room mate? He makes a noise with his
jaws like the sound of an ax. E. C.
It must be his chops, Emil. Come again.
E. O'C.: "I saw a big African gentleman this summer who always wore
flesh colored socks."
R. H. H.: "Were they black or pink?"
Dev. (after supper, with deep-cut on lip): "Boys, I had a serious accident. I wonder who sharpened those knives."
