Where mighty Mississippi flows,
Where o'er the hills the west wind blows,
The oaken boughs swing to and fro,

My father took me there one day,
My mother thought I ne'er would stay;
But Ambrose men were royal men
On campus, track—in school and den,
And college mem'ries will not wane,
As long as sunrise comes again. Chorus:

When Freedom called her sons around
The Colors, and her bugle sound
Had flung a challenge to the foe,
No Ambrose men, with footsteps slow,
Hung back, but with the flag's advance,
