Description

"THE BLUE AND WHITE"
Where mighty Mississippi flows,
Where o'er the hills the west wind blows,
The oaken boughs swing to and fro,
And spring birds come and sing and go—
The old school stands; the old bell rings,
Whose echo in my heart still sings.
Chorus:
Hurrah, hurrah, St. Ambrose!
Hurrah for the White and the Blue!
Hurrah, hurrah, St. Ambrose!
Alma Mater, here's to you!
II
My father took me there one day,
My mother thought I ne'er would stay;
But Ambrose men were royal men
On campus, track—in school and den,
And college mem'ries will not wane,
As long as sunrise comes again. Chorus:
WAR SONG
When Freedom called her sons around
The Colors, and her bugle sound
Had flung a challenge to the foe,
No Ambrose men, with footsteps slow,
Hung back, but with the flag's advance,
They followed on the fields of France. Chorus:
FOOTBALL
Come on, old team! up, up, let's go!
Right through the line! come, hit 'em low!
Hold,! hold 'em, boys; don't let 'em gain;
Our colors flying shall remain!
Come on, old team, and let's go through,
To victory for the White and Blue! Chorus:
COMMENCEMENT
Good-bye, old college! Good-bye, boys!
We're leaving schooldays and their joys;
We're at the gate, the dusty way
Through years we'll tread without dismay,
If Alma Mater guides us true.
Good-bye, good-bye, old White and Blue! Chorus:
S. A. CRABBE.
