Bees a Battle
Fans Pleased With
Spirit and Fight of
Central Team

Central College gave way to
St. Ambrose Friday night by losing
35-20 at Kuyper Stadium in
Pella. The Dutchmen tried their
best but they just couldn't match
the superiority of the "Bees" from
Davenport. However, the game
displayed improvement for the
Dutchmen despite their recent injury handicaps.
Coach "Moon Mullins'" boys
launched their scoring by a 62
yard punt return by Norb Schultz.
Norb, a 155 lb. half-back from
Alton* 111., also scored twice more
in the second quarter on short
plunges. Ed Scheck scored on an
around the end pass play to tally
St. Ambrose's other first-half
score. Central rolled down the
field 40 yards in the first quarter and Dean Van Zee went over
from the five yard line scoring a
Central touchdown. Bob Benzour
hit paydirt for St. Ambrose in the
third quarter afer a 35 yd. run.
Central struck back in the person of Junior Dunkin during the
3rd. quarter when this 170 lb. halfback from Bussey ran 10 yards for
the Dutchmen's second touchdown.
A 35 yd. pass play, Al Schuler to
Dean Van Zee, completed the scoring, altho St. Ambrose threatened
again by having four tries from
the 2 yd. line for a score. Central
relieved the Bees of the ball how
ever, by recovering a fumble on
the 5 yd. line.
Jim Madden kicked 5 extra
points for St. Ambrose, while
Norm Den Hartog made two out
of three conversions for the Pella
team.
