Description
Front row, left to right: Ed Conroy, Tom Gulan, Fred Boher, Dick Brennan, Pete
Stuckey. Second row: Coach Bob Duax, Bill Patterson, Bill Crowley, John Leonard,
Tom Otting, Mike Fennelly.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE BEE STARTERS
Dick Brennan, mainstay of the starting five. "Monk" hails from St. Rita of Chicago. Dick was
superior rebounder and led the team in this department. He is a sophomore.
Tom Otting, a graduate of St. Ambrose Academy where he was one of the area's top prep players. "Otts," a sophomore, carried the scoring burden for the Bees and could be counted on for one of
his patented hook shots when the occassion demanded.
Pete Stuckey, another product of St. Rita of Chicago and a sophomore. Pete alternated at the pivot
and forward positions for the Bees and his stellar defensive play stopped many an opposing basket.
John Leonard, another sophomore and hustling guard from St. Elizabeths of Chicago, saw plenty
of action this year. After the departure of Kevin Fennelly, John stepped in and performed quite capably.
Tom Gulan, rounds out the Bee first team. The bright spot in Coach Duax's rebuilding project,
Gulan has been a standout. Tom prepped at Lindblom High in Chicago. Only a freshman, he is being counted on for next year's starting berth.
