OMAHA 27
Even though St. Ambrose clicked on
a vicious passing attack against Omaha,
it was not enough to turn the tide of the
Omaha 27-19 effort. With Omaha taking
an early lead, the Bees rolled back to
hold the Indians scoreless throughout the
third and fourth periods. Bob Webb
completing passes consistantly throughout the night kept the Indians' defensive
secondary confused. His sixteen completions in thirty-one attempts netted two
of the Ambrosian touchdowns and displayed the air-might of the Bees' offensive unit.

The Tangerine Bowl Champions, Missouri Valley, showed why they are
prominent among the highly touted small
college grid powers across the nation.
Operating from the single-wing formation, the Viking's ground game was very
effective. Don Allison, substituting for
injured quarterback Bob Webb, showed
fine capabilities as field general as he
led the Bees in an exciting second half
surge. Fumbles and penalties cost the
Bees two touchdowns after extended
drives deep into Viking territory. This
game served as an exciting preliminary
for the 1957 contest between two of the
more highly rated small college teams.
