In the Homecoming game, playing our
traditional foe, Loras, the St. Ambrose
College Bees displayed their tremendous
gridiron power. Led by Junior half-back
Dick Allison, who highlighted the game
with 90 and 96 yard runs, the Bees, overcoming a 7-0 Loras advantage in the first
quarter, rolled back to completely outclass the DuHawks. St. Ambrose lineman
Bill Strenski broke into the scoring column by intercepting a pass and returning
it for a 32 yard touchdown run.

The St. Ambrose-Loras traveling trophy
was taken as a war prize from a Japanese
Hospital Ship in World War II. It has
since become a symbol of the traditional
rivalry between the two schools.
