Bob Murphy snags a
rebound in the 106-75
massacre of Dubuque U.
out all season with a bad knee, returned to the lineup against
St. Joe's and he proved to be valuable reserve strength in the
home stretch.
Parsons were 71-69 victims of a tremendous second half
rally led by Tom Seekamp, who propelled 30 points through
the nets on 35 and 40-foot set shots. Bill Dart's free throw
with but one second remaining broke a 69-69 deadlock for the
win. Cannady added a technical shot for his 19th point of the
game to ice the verdict.
Bob Duax's charges broke loose against Dubuque U. in
LeClaire gym for a 106-75 victory. Big Bob Cannady, playing
26 of a possible 40 minutes, scored 38 points to break Bob Smiley's school record of 35 points. Seekamp hit 21 points in
this scoring spree. 106 points were the most points ever scored
in one game by an Ambrose basketball team.
Big Bob's hooks were good for 31 points as Loras tasted
their first of three defeats at the hands of the Duaxmen, 77-67,
in Moline. Willie, Fay and Murphy were demons under the
boards for the winners.
Penn was blasted, 94-£7, as Cannady and Fay were leisurely
scoring 30 and 21 points respectively. Wesleyan fell, 81-78, in
another last ditch stand by the Bees. Bill Dart scored a charity
