batted in a rebound shot. Seekamp tossed in 27, Fay hit 17 and
Dan Garvey notched 12 points, coming on six 35-foot set shots.
Misfortune hit the Bees when Fay was sidelined with a wrenched
knee and Central and St. Thomas halted the Duaxmen. Central
turned the trick first, 68-63, despite Cannady's 31 points and the
Tommies won out in a nip-and-tuck battle the following night 69-64.
Cannady and Seekamp accounted for 20 and 18 points respectively.
The Christmas holidays interrupted action for awhile and the Saints
came back to become the hottest team in Iowa. Simpson was the
first 1953 victim, 87-68, and the Ambrose quint showed their first
sign of power. Seekamp hit for 23, Cannady notched 19, Willie Malatestinic chipped in 15 and Fay and Bob Murphy followed
with 13 and 11.
An automobile accident and a last quarter rally couldn't stop the
Ambrose machine at Dubuque U., as the Spartans fell 83-78. Cannady accounted for 30 points and Seekamp placed second with 24
