Forensics Society
The Saint Ambrose College Forensic Society
proved again this year that the success of any
organization cannot be judged in terms of the
number of its members. Although the Forensics
Society with less than ten members is probably
the smallest organization on this campus, the
Bee speakers brought national honors to Saint
Ambrose.
Competing in forensics tournaments at Bradley
University, Peoria; the State University of Iowa,
Iowa City; Luther College, Decorah, Iowa; and
Xavier University, Cincinnati, the Bees consistently
received superior and excellent ratings in the fields
of debate, discussion, public speaking and extemporaneous speaking in competition against some
of the nation's top colleges and universities.
Competing inter-collegiately were Dave DeDoncker, John Searle, Lloyd Considine and Jim
Hodges. The local group was also instrumental
in the formation of the Iowa Regional Forensics
Commission of the National Federation of Catholic College Students. Throughout the year, the
forensics group made numerous radio, television
and personal appearances in the local area.
Officers of the Forensics club were Dave DeDoncker, President; Lloyd Considine, Vice-President; and James McNamara, Secretary-Treasurer.
