VIATORIANS
The Clerics of St. Viator, more commonly
known as the "Viatorians", is a congregation,
whose ends are the instruction of youth and the
service of the holy altar. The Brothers now
at St. Ambrose are in an intermediate stage of
their vocation. Having completed their canonical year in the novitiate, they are permitted
to make temporary vows and enter the scholas-
ticate. At St. Ambrose these newly professed
men take courses which will give them a foundation for teaching. The Brothers, completing
their requirements at the college, are then
eligible to teach or to enter the seminary.
The Brothers attending St. Ambrose have
a substantial degree of freedom in choosing
their major fields, although they are advised
and directed in this decision by their superiors.
Following ordination, further work is done in
graduate school or during summer sessions.
All these scholastic pursuits, however, point
toward but one goal — Christian Pedagogy.
The Brothers study, work, and pray, always
having this goal in mind.
