Title
1968 Yearbook
Description
JOHN P. DEMME
ADDISON, ILL. CHEMISTRY
Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night
shall impede the OAKS Photographer
from his appointed rounds. Perhaps one
of the most unsung but demanding jobs
of any yearbook is to capture the students
in their natural habitat. The OAKS needed
6,000 pictures for it's preparation and
only one photographer takes all the
"mug" shots. Posing subjects, snapping
their pictures, developing and printing;
these are tiring for one's trigger finger
and feet. John has provided photographic
service for the OAKS and the Ambrosian News for four years
while maintaining his pre-Med major and Tri-Beta affiliation.
He deserves special thanks for widening the students' field of
view in his own exemplary way.
PAUL J. FREUND
OTTUMWA, IOWA
PSYCHOLOGY
If a person were to describe Paul Freund, somewhere the phrase, "a deep
love of learning", would
have to be used. Our College Bowl team Captain
has maintained a very high
cumulative average and
he will be the first student
to graduate from the newly established department
of Psychology at St. Ambrose. In addition, he has
served as a member of the
Judiciary and Library Committees and has worked
as a columnist for the
College newspaper. Involvement, on a high academic level, has been his
watchword.
DANIEL F. DORAN
DEMENT, ILL
POLITICAL SCIENCE
Perhaps the most-remembered man of the
1967-68 academic year
will be Dan Doran. This is
a simple statement that
must suffice for many
things that should be said.
He will be remembered
for his humorous but cogent newspaper column,
"The Wing-Tipped Warrior"
which appeared for the
last two years in the Ambrosian News. He is to be
lauded for his work to obtain a student voice on student administrative boards,
for serving on these boards
himself, and for organizing
the 1966 Student Council
Christmas dance. A good
student and an elemental
part of the Student Council, he will be most remembered for chairmanship of the 1967 Homecoming. To speak here of
our most successful Homecoming in years would be a
hopeless task, but Dan
Doran was the spirit of
Homecoming and for this
we ask that he be justly
recognized & remembered.
