World War I Newspaper Clippings

Description

Here are three pages of photos from the World War I era from an unknown newspaper. The first page shows Marie Doro, an actress perfoming in a war play on Broadway called "The Amazing Interlude" written by Mary Roberts Rinehart; The second photo shows dancer Mlle. Dorshais in a pose from her Winter Garden dance - "The Dream of the Arabian Prince"; the third is Jane Cowl, a play writer who wrote a comedy entitled "Information Please". The second page is a photograph of President Woodrow Wilson with the caption "Stand Behind Him" underneath.
The third page shows two scenes of World War I. The first is a British gun about to open a bombardment of the enemy's lines. The second shows British soldiers at a shrine which has been shattered by a German shell during the bombardment of a French village.

Strelecki, Jean de - a Polish photographer who lived in New York City during 1918 where he became involved in theatrical and movie portraiture and photographed the women on the first page;
The photograph of Woodrow Wilson is from the Chicago Herald and Examiner; The war photographs on the third page were taken by Kadel and Herbert.
