Dictionary
Blacklist—A word known to all, both "preps" and "seniors". It is defined: "Honorable mention of two weeks' sojourn in study hall, or a weary Wednesday afternoon
in solitude for violating rules."
Prefects—A few of the seniors who are authorized to enforce the rules. Nobody
likes them.
Jug—An assembly of the "master minds". Meeting held daily at 3 : 40 at the professor's request.
M. D.—The Master of Discipline. His greatest trouble is the mischief doers.
"Tumblers"—A society of "nuts" who pull some of the "rough stuff" if they can.
The chief is John Sheppard. Enough said.
"Red Daggers"—A society of the more refined students. Some of them belong to the
"sewing circle". Leader, "Irene" Bruhn.
H. Britt (at Wilton-Junior game) : "Norton, pull up your stockings, the calves
will get out."
L. Boyle (at Free's Studio) : "Open the door; I want to throw out my chest."
Jew Murphy: "Schnoebelen, I wish you'd room somewhere else."
Schnoebelen: "What's the matter now?"
Jew: "Oh, you're so bow-legged you're rubbing all the paint off the chairs."
Keen
H. McCarthy: "I have a dog and a hen that are fast friends."
M. McCarthy: "What can a dog and a hen have in common?"
"They're setters among both."
A Senior to a Junior
My time is short here, as I graduate next week; and on that day, my connection
with you fellows terminates. I will then proceed by word of mouth to tell you what
I think of you.
