IOWA WESLEYAN 12
The last home game found the Bees favored over the highly underated Iowa Wes-
leyan squad. The Bees were held in check
for the greater part of the first half . . .
Wesleyan scored first on an eighty yard
gallop by scatback Al Holland . . . Ambrose recovered just before the half with
a touchdown pass — Webb to Hipskind . . .
Rauzi converted for a 7-6 lead.
The third quarter was scoreless, but early
in the fourth, Dick Allison intercepted a
Tiger pass and dashed 44 yards to set up
the second Bee score . . . Bert Westemeyer
converted. The Tigers bounced back with
a 40 yard drive . . . the conversion failed
and Ambrose led 14-12.
With less than two minutes to go in the
game, Webb connected with Jack Laughlin
for another touchdown and Westemeyer
booted to widen the margin. Seconds later
Jack Brookhart, playing his last game be-
for the home crowd, picked off a Tiger
pass on the Wesleyan 35 . . . picked up a
couple of blockers . . . and dashed over
the goal, unmolested, for the final tally of
the game.

WESTERN ILLINOIS 19
Once again the Bees, rated as underdogs, journeyed to Macomb to face
the highly touted Leathernecks. The
Bees were ready for a tough one, and
jumped to an early 6-0 lead. Western
quickly recovered ... a pass completion and interception proved sufficient
for two quick Leatherneck scores and
I a 12-6 lead at the intermission.
With Gene Walton and Gerry Ger-
hardt carrying the load, the Bees
marched for a second touchdown with
only two minutes left in the fourth
period. With victory seemingly close
for the Ambrosians, Macomb marched
60 yards in less than a minute for the
winning touchdown and a heartbreak-
I ing loss for the Bees.
