Seminary
In view of its significant historical claim and its noble function, the Ecclesiastical Department joins
in a very special manner the Saint Ambrose Diamond Jubilee celebration.
Our college was founded primarily to facilitate "the education of young men for the priesthood."
Despite the ensuing adoption of other Departments into the Saint Ambrose family, the Seminary has, for
three-quarters of a century, retained its claim as the eldest and most respected member.
More important, the very character and purpose of the Church Department render its activity to be
the most important on our campus. It provides for the moral, mental, and physical development of
aspirants to the Holy Ministry of Christ.
