Homecoming
St. Ambrose 28*
St. Norbert's 14
St. Ambrose entertained St. Norberts in the
homecoming game, but the Bees proved to be
rude hosts as they jolted their guests 28-14, to
the delight of the assembled "old grads."
Mitch Ware played the lead in the Ambrose
attack, a role not at all unfamiliar to him, as he
accounted for two first half touchdowns. The
first came on a thrust from 38 yards out and the
second was a two yard plunge, a follow-up to
a punt blocked by Stan Heth.
Spirit high at homecoming time.
Jack Abbott to "Smoke" Michalski, a strong
combination, provided the next points on a pass
play which covered 11 yards. Half time found
the Bees with a 21-7 lead, very comfortable under
the circumstances. Ken Filar's 5 yard buck closed
out the evening's scoring parade, and Bert Westemeyer, with four conversions in as many attempts,
filled out the 28 point total.
Ken Filar uses blocks by Jack Abbott and Mitch Ware to pick up gain against St. Norbert's.
