The seven senior football players pictured here are (left to right):
KEN FLOERKE, end and halfback from Saginaw, Michigan. Always a hustler, and good on defense as well
as offense, Ken gave a good account of himself whenever called upon.
JIM MURPHY, lineman from Carrollton, Michigan. Versatile Murph played virtually every line position at
one time or another. His size and speed made him a valuable man in the Bees' forward wall.
BOB DURNIN, back from Davenport. Bob's running and passing ability stood him in good stead whether
playing halfback or quarterback. Particularly in his junior year did Bob display his best abilities, as he shouldered
nearly the whole offensive load in several games.
LARRY ZITKUS, guard from Sterling, Illinois. Always a standout in the Ambrose line, Larry fought off an
injury jinx through much of his final year. Nevertheless he played fine football whenever he was in the
lineup. Possessor of size, speed and all the attributes of a truly fine player, "Zitko" won recognition on
Midwest All-Catholic squad.
JIM DELANEY, end from Mount Carmel of Chicago. Jim was recognized as a rugged end with real ability.
However, a series of injuries prevented him from ever realizing his full potential. On the few occasions
when his physical condition permitted he was quick to demonstrate his talents.
JIM HANRAHAN, lineman from Cathedral High, Springfield, Illinois. Playing both end and guard, Jim
had the versatility to do a good job at either position. He was fast, strong and hard to move on defense.
MITCH WARE, fullback from St Elizabeth High of Chicago. A short summary of all Mitch's accomplishments
and honors is practically impossible. Here, however, are a few of the more noteworthy ones. He was the
team's leading scorer and ground gainer for three years. He made All Iowa Conference, offense and defense,
All Midwest Conference, All Catholic Midwest three years, and honorable mention National All Catholic.
