The Ambrosian
REV. T. V. LAWLER
The present standards and merits of the Ambrosian are due in no small measure
to the spirit of the students who prompted its beginning. As a tribute of desert to a
man who did much to promote the organization of our Annual, permit us to say the
following of Rev. Thomas V. Lawler.
Father Lawler was graduated from the Collegiate Department of St. Ambrose in
1913. That year the Ambrosian was organized and he served on the Staff as Athletic Editor. He then attended St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore, Maryland. He was
ordained October 7, 1916, in Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport, Iowa. Father
Lawler was immediately sent to DeWitt as assistant pastor to Rev. J. J. Nelson. The
following year he was transferred to What Cheer, Iowa, as pastor. His work in that
parish endeared him to all and his loss was keenly felt when he was moved to Me-
chanicsville, Iowa. He has been at that parish but two years and has succeeded in
building a Church and Rectory. The Church was dedicated by the Rt. Rev. James J.
Davis, D. D., in May.
Father Lawler now, as in his student days, is interested in St. Ambrose and is ever
ready to second with heart and soul, his Alma Mater's endeavors.
St. Ambrose prays for his continued success in his sacerdotal work.
