A VOICE FROM THE ENDOWMENT FUND
The St. Ambrose College P^ndowment Fund begs a little space in
this interesting Annual to tell the many patrons of the College that the
Fund is gradually growing and being generously paid.
The obligations assumed by the ten thousand people throughout the
Davenport Diocese are being faithfully, and for the most part, promptly
paid. At the close of the second year's work, forty-five per cent of the
total amount subscribed, has been paid in.
The loyalty of the people in this noble work of Christian and higher
education is worthy of the highest praise. This loyalty is best manifested by those who have gone to distant parts; they have not forgotten
their obligations, nor felt that leaving the Diocese would be a just
reason to repudiate them. The Bonding Company receives installments
from our people as far East as New Hampshire and New York, from
California on the West and as far South as Buenos Aires, South America. They haven't forgotten the old College back home that is making
an heroic effort to rise and to stand firm and majestic upon a solid
footing. Even those who have met with financial reverses are asking
only that they be given an extension of time and they will pay all. The
financial embarrassment which the country has experienced during the
past year has had little effect upon the payments as they came due. As
a result the accrued interest from the many substantial loans made is
sufficient to warrant the erection of a new building which is now under
construction.
The Chairman, Father Walsh, and the College authorities are satisfied with the success of the Endowment Fund to date. They take this
occasion to express their appreciation to the good people of the Diocese,
and their confidence in this patient devotion to the cause in the future,
that they have shown in the past.
