At St. Ambrose, Jan. 9. St. Ambrose 23; Wartburg 14.
The Wartburg club were a fighting tribe and a real fighting game was
the result. It was a close contest and one filled with thrilling moments, but
the Ambrosians emerged victorious. Simmons secured six baskets, Coonan
three, and Sheehan, Volz, Malone and O'Connor showed some real floor work
and close guarding. Among the visitors Herbner and Radloff were the
stars.
At Aledo, 111., Jan. 26. St. Ambrose 24; Williams and Vashti 4.
The second game with the Williams and Vashti aggregation was a
repetition of the first. Coonan, Sheehan, Volz, Malone, Coryn, Supan and
O'Connor, all counted some pretty field goals and surprised the home town
rooters by some speedy teamwork.
At St. Ambrose, Feb. 1. St. Ambrose 37; Lenox 18.
In this the first conference game, the Lenox five were defeated without
much trouble, although the visitors had with them their old veterans, Williamson and Wilkinson. The visitors were adept in the art of short passing, but failed to get within scoring distance of the basket.
At Clinton, Iowa, Feb. 2. St. Ambrose 24; Wartburg 22.
The return game with Wartburg College was a type of indoor football.
Both teams were determined to win, and were full of pep and fight until the
final whistle. With but a minute to play and the score standing a tie, Coonan dropped in a long shot from the middle of the floor and St. Ambrose
was declared victorious, 24 to 22. Fisher and Radloff scintillated for
Wartburg.
At St. Ambrose, Feb. 14. Iowa Wesleyan 19; St. Ambrose 13.
Iowa Wesleyan, a claimant for the state title, succeeded in defeating the
college five in one of the most interesting games of the season. St. Ambrose put up a wonderful defensive game, and their defeat was by no means
a disgraceful one. Simmons made some pretty shots and was aided considerably by the fast team work of Sheehan Ma,one, Coonan, and O'Connor.
Dean and Talbot of Iowa Wesleyan played a classy style of game.
At St. Ambrose, Feb. 21. Dubuque 16; St. Ambrose 14.
The Ambrosians came out of the Dubuque contest as disgusted with
themselves as the rooters were surprised. All that pep and speed which
they had shown in the previous games were absent and the game proved
slow and interesting. In the first half St. Ambrose led 12 to 3, but in the
next session Dubuque overcame the lead with the help of some long field
goals by Lentz and Whalen, and when the whistle sounded the end of the
last half, the score was 14 to 14. In the extra five minutes of play, Dubuque
secured a field basket and the game, score 16 to 14.
The return game with Lenox at Hopkinton was cancelled.

The Ambrosians travelled to Dubuque with the intention of vindicating
themselves for their previous defeat, but the result of this journey was another inglorious defeat. The first half ended in a tie, but in the second
period there was too much Whalen, who dropped in eight goals, and Dubuque's final count was 24. St. Ambrose secured but one basket in the
second session.
