Description
Looking for someone to pass off to is Sophomore Vicky
Shomburg.
Vicky Shomburg proves to be a hindrance to an opposing team member's shot.
If strength does come in numbers, it is understandable
where the 1978-79 Queen Bees came up with their impressive 17-9 season record. The Queen Bee's coach Ken
Buckles enjoyed a strong 16 member team with such even talents that a definite lineup was never reached.
The women's team faced a much more difficult schel-
dule this year in the addition of confrontations with such
teams as University of Iowa, Drake, and William Penn.
This year also included a novel event for the Queen
Bees-their first district win. This came with a victory over Iowa Weslyn in the first round of district play. Another
highlight of the season was two wins, out of three close
battles, over rival Mary crest.
The Queen Bee's leading scorer was Michelle Riordon,
with a 17.7 point average, who was also voted by the
team as most valuable player. Deb Patty received the
most improved player award, and the selected team co-
captains were Donna Politi and the lone senior Amy Baker. Coach Buckles can look forward to many returning
letter winners next year, with big hopes for another successful season.
Michelle Riordon goes tor two more towards her 461 point season total.
