CONFERENCE CHAMPS
St. Ambrose 58 — Valley City Teachers 6
Saturday, November 12, Davenport: Mud,
rain and an undefeated opponent faced the
Bees on this climactic afternoon. The Bees
countered with a lopsided 58 points against 6
for the Teachers. On a slippery turf the Bees
rolled up 650 yards, both in the air and on the
ground, with Doody slopping through the mire
for 202 yards. Score by quarters:
St. Ambrose 60 — Omaha 26
Saturday, October 29, Omaha, Nebraska:
The Bees threw the book at Omaha University,
routing the touted Nebraska team 60-26. The
victory was the biggest surprise of the year.
Don Doody came off a sickbed to score five
touchdowns. Jack Mooney ran the opening
kickoff back 102 yards and Bevenour and Nixon
helped to register 600 yards for the Bees on

Sunday, October 16, Davenport: While
8,000 fans looked on, the Bees had to
undergo the tightest squeeze of the year as they
slipped by St. Thomas 20-14. Don Doody
showed his prowess once again jabbing at the
heart of the Tommie line for one touchdown and
speeding 78 yards for the longest endurance
test of his career. Ed Scheck caught successive
passes of 31 and 34 yards from Art Nixon for
the third touchdown. Score by quarters:
