Description
This year as in past years the St. Ambrose Tennis team showed itself to be
one of the top small college tennis
teams in the nation. The Bee netmen
compiled a 10—0 dual meet record
against some of the best university and
college teams in the midwest, such as
Bradley, Marquette, Drake Universities
and a fine Loras College. This exceptional
Team won the first Midlands Conference
Tennis Tournament. Coach Ed Scheck
had only the highest praise for his
players. "This was a real feat for these
men, one that they can all be proud of.
They exhibited the best team performance
since I've been coaching the sport at St.
Ambrose." With man/ highlights to look
back upon, the most memorable'has to
be the final match. In this last encounter,
Parsons College remained the last challenge to an undefeated season, but were
routed 9—0 by the Ambrose Netters.
Left to right: Dan Rohr, Steve O'Brien, Robin Freund, John Wallin, Roger Furman John
Underwood.
