'68 Oaks Dedicated to Wallace M. Evans
In dedicating the 1968 OAKS, a certain
degree of confusion was created in attempting to choose one faculty member
from so many worthy personalities. Many
faculty members work for their students
"above and beyond the call of duty", and
some of these will be noted in other sections of the book.
In an effort to pick one area, one person
to note, it was decided that the obvious
should be acknowledged to be true. While
St. Ambrose has many areas of superiority, one department that has stood out,
both in the accomplishments of its staff
and the performance of its students, has
been Accounting.
And, while this fact is obscured attimes,
we take the opportunity now, to express
pride in the knowledge that this department is second to none in its field.
And so, it is for this reason that we dedicate this volume to Mr. Wallace M. Evans.
In May 1967 St. Ambrose College
awarded Mr. Evans the honorary degree
D.C.S. in recognition of his work in
bringing our Accounting department
into the status of a university. It is no
wonder that ten of the largest accounting
firms come to St. Ambrose annually to
interview our students. Many letters of
thanks from employers and former
students testify to the fact that his is a
job well done.
