1968 Yearbook
Description
The Most
Reverend
Gerald F.
O'Keefe
Bishop of
Davenport
Diocese
Introduction
Last year the OAKS' theme centered on
the physical growth of the college as
witnessed in the initiation of the Six
million dollar building project. The initial steps have been taken, and Hayes
Hall has been completed. In line with
this physical growth the college has
grown in other ways, and for lack of a
better phrase these changes have involved
"growing pains". Students have recognized that they, as college men, have
rights which must be asserted, and with
these rights go responsibilities. One of
these responsibilities is that each student
must be involved in his primary job as a
student.
In this regard, the '68 OAKS has attempted to focus on some students who
have taken their jobs seriously, and, also
on some of the exceptional faculty members who have helped them in this
attitude. This same vigor carried over into
extra-curricular areas such as the highly
successful Homecoming. Student question and clamor has resulted in their
gaining a greater voice in all areas of
school affairs, with the result of better
communications between students and
administration. All the important and
active students and faculty members
cannot be adequately presented on these
pages, so we have chosen a representative few to reflect the happenings of a new
and vital St. Ambrose College in the exciting time of 1968.
