Description
Track
The track squad was much improved as it faced an expanded schedule with more depth in all departments. Leading
the thinclads' assault on the record books were miler Bob Zeimet,
quarter-milers Dan McClimon and Bob Jackson, half-miler
Jim Bradshaw and javelin-thrower Ken Chouquette.
The return of Jackson to the squad after he was hobbled
by an injury last season rounded out the mile relay team, which
was expected to match its performance of two seasons ago. The
appearance of several freshmen bolstered the over-all strength
of the squad with Doug Cornick and Mike Christian participating in the pole vault, Dick Bogott handling the hurdling chores,
and Julian Belman hurling the discus.
Coach Roy Owen has worked hard to increase the fortunes
of track at St. Ambrose and his efforts seem to have been rewarded.
Back row (left to right): Coach Roy Owen, Manager Ron Chambers, Bob Jackson, Jim Bradshaw, Dan McClimon, Bob Zeimet, Terry Thiessen,
Tom Nolan, Jim Ryan, Gerry Clesen, Jim Kerfin, Dick Bogott, Julian Belman, John Kresl, Ken Chouquette, Mike Daux, Trainer Don
Bender. Front row: Tom Seitz, Jim Hamilton, Doug Miller, Walt McKenna, Tom Breese, Jim O'Conor, George Turner, Joe Adornato, Mike
Christian, Art Moore and Chuck Burnham.
