Description
Tennis
The tennis team opened the 1962 campaign seeking to extend its list of twenty successive victories in the past three seasons.
This goal seemed within reach as the squad boasted some
bright prospects and four veterans, including seniors Bill Underwood and Verne Peterschmidt, junior Gene McCabe and sophomore Ray Baladad.
Rev. J. A. Hratz, veteran coach of the successful sextet,
entered his fifteenth year at the helm of St. Ambrose tennis
squads. His teams have compiled a record of 83 wins against 40
losses, becoming a major power in midwestern tennis.
Number One Doubles Team-Baladad and McCabe.
Left to right: Verne Peterschmidt, Dave Killian, Ray Baladad, Gene McCabe, John Jayne, Bill Underwood and Father Hratz.
