Marycrest and St. Ambrose Colleges presented "Oklahoma" April 26-29. The
Rev. James E. Greene, St. Ambrose College, and Sister Mary Elizabeth Anne
C.H.M., Marycrest College, were co-directors of music for the Broadway musical!
Mr. Wayne Loui was producer-director.
Richard Marriott and Trudy Hirshman appeared as Curly and Laurey the romantic leads. Tom Joyce and Mary Lynne Metternich portrayed Will Parker and
Ado Annie. Tom Joyce has the distinction of being the only person to appear in
leading roles in four musicals presented at the school. Jud Fry was played by Nile
Strohman while his sister Beverly played Aunt Eller. Another brother and sister team
in the show were dance leads John and Jackie Mazur.
The popular Rogers and Hammerstein favorite had a musical cast of nearly
100 singers. The Instrumental ensemble was under the direction of Clarence Kriesa.
"Oklahoma" is the fifth major musical to be produced by the combined college
groups. The quality of these productions is clearly evident from the yearly sellout audiences.
Dennis Dinneen as Ali Hakim.
Jacqueline Mazur as female dance
lead.
Beverly Strohman as Aunt Eller.
John Mazur as male dance lead.
Nile Strohman as Jud Fry.
