Look at that exhibition!
Teahouse of the August Moon
John Patrick's fantasy comedy, "Teahouse of the August Moon", opened the Theatre III season. The problem
is who conquers whom during the American occupation
of Okinawa. A shrewd, lovable interpreter, Sakini (Tom
Feeney) explains the problems of the play to the audience. A G.I. misfit, one Captain Fisby (Tom Hogue) is
completely taken over by Geisha-Girl First Class, Lotus
Blossom (Juidth Heitz) and the rest of the villagers of
Tobiki. The villagers persuade Fisby to build a Teahouse instead of a schoolhouse. So relaxed is Fisby that
Colonel Purdy III (Kenneth Plumb) sends a psychiatrist,
Captain McLean (R. Marriott) to examine the fallen
Fisby. McLean relaxes and becomes the farmer he always wanted to be. The Colonel comes to set everything
straight but a village of relaxed, happy, wise inhabitants win over all.
Americans will build a schoolhouse.
Teahouse wrestling matches end in prattfalls.
I'll have no rotten apples in my barrel!!!
