Description
Honor Roll
ST. AMBROSE may well be proud of the part her
sons played in the great struggle for democracy. By dedicating the Ambrosian of 1918
to those who were then "In the Army and
Navy fighting to preserve the Ideals and Institutions of free people," she attempted to show
her appreciation of them. But we, although unable by far,
to do justice to the number and rank of those, who fought
and bled in the Great War, have decided to place a record of
the soldiers and sailors and marines as we have them before
us. If any name has been omitted we beg that you will not
feel slighted for such was not intentional. We have gladly
welcomed all news of those in the Service and it has been our
delight to record their successes. Our thirty-five commissioned officers, that we have record of, bear evidence that
scholars from St. Ambrose can hold their own anywhere.
Indeed the whole honorable list bears testimony that at St.
Ambrose are learned those lessons of patriotism that make
a man willing to die for his home, his country, and his God.
