High Chanticleer—P. Simons.
Various Other Smokers.
ACT I—Smoker Time, 6:30 P. M.
(Enter Smoker Gang)
Prefect—"Deputy Prefect, call the role and see if all the members are
present." (Role is taken.)
Deputy Prefect—"All members are present."
Prefect—"The Keeper of the Cuspidors wil now give the password
and the Warden will take up same, but before so doing I will ask the High
Chanticleer to call the members to order.
(High Chanticleer decorates the window sill and crows.)
(Silence reigns.)
ACT II—Place, Same
Keeper of the Cuspidors—"Kid you! No! Take the password and
shut up."
Member—"Pull in your horns, kid, or I'll send you home on first."
Keeper of Cuspidors—"I'll be if you will."
I Prefect—"Warden, bring those men to order."
Warden—"Come on, you fellows. Cut out that 'rough stuff,' or I'll
take you on for a cleaning. You know I'm pretty handy with my mitts."
All Members—"Where do you get that music ?"
(Rise and pull off coats.)
Prefect—"High Chanticleer, bring those men to order at once.
(High Chanticleer rushes down the room and crows loudly. Silence
again prevails.)
(Password is taken and all are seated.)
I Inspector of Smokes—"Give me a drag off your pipe."
Keeper of the Cuspidors—"Nothing doin'."
Inspector of Smokes—" 'Smatter' scared of microbes?"
Keeper of the Cuspidors—"No, not mi-crobes; but your crobes.
