Description

On the afternoon of the 17th the students were given the freedom of the campus
(the only donation in the first semester). Coach Devlin arrived on the 18th and immediately called for candidates for Varsity football. About twenty-five responded.
The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary held an election of officers on the 19th.
The 20th of September was made memorable by the return of Nevin and also by the
ruling which abolished the ancient and honorable art of hazing. New England sent
more Varsity material. The Junior and Varsity practice
kept the attendance at the Columbia below normal on the
22nd. An impromptu meeting of the 4th Academic class,
held on the third floor smoker, was dispersed by the officer
of the day.
(Keep in mind! Only 262 days 'til June 8th.)
The 25th of September revealed what was considered a
victory in the game with Knox. Score Knox 0, S. A. 0.
Sunday the 26th the Juniors held the powerful Junior Alumni
to a scoreless tie. Game was called at the end of the first half.
Rain. More new faces were seen on the Varsity payroll on
the 27th. The beginning of the end of the B. V. D. season
appeared on the 28th. Several were on the sick list. The faculty began a hunt for
their electric heaters. Members of the 4th Academic class made a demand for more
rights on the 29th, but all to no avail. Lo, the poor 4th!
(Gee, fellers! Only 255 days 'til June 8th.)
Ha, Watson! Sherlock has detected the welcome sound of steam in the class-room
radiators on the 30th of September. Coises! The cold has been foiled. The 2nd of
October the Varsity won from Still College in football. Still lived up to their name.
