Description

The College Glee Club.
THE past year has witnessed the organization of a Glee Club to encourage and cultivate vocal culture among the students. Such a society had been happily anticipated
for several years, but it was not until this term that it was realized. Under the
guidance of Prof. Hall, a grand success is presaged for the society. After having
mastered the nerve-trying elementary exercises, the Glee Club is now specializing in the
productions of the classic composers, by way of preparation for a cantata, which, it is
hoped, will be presented before the class of the present session.
The membership now numbers about fifty students, who, by their devotion and persistent efforts, have become adepts in the rendition of chorus work.
College Band and College Orchestra.
WELL may St. Ambrose point with pride to her musical organizations, which she
regards as a chief factor in the life of the institution. From the beginning,
St. Ambrose has cherished and encouraged music, that most soul-elevating of
the arts, and today enjoys the gratification which comes from the realization of fond hopes.
The band, which numbers about twenty members, is under the very competent
direction of Edward G. Rump, who has acted in that responsible capacity for the past
two years. Professor Ernest Otto, one of the best known music teachers in the Middle
West, has been our band instructor for many years. The band members are as follows:
Edward Rump Solo Cornet
Myrle Skelley Solo Cornet
Carl Kautz First Cornet
David Klise Second Cornet
