Description
The College Band. THE COLLEGE BAND has long been an important factor in the
activities of St. Ambrose, and as such has been encouraged by
the faculty and the student body. At first the lovers of band
music at St. Ambrose feared, owing to depletion by graduation,
that the band of '15 would not be equal to the high standard
set in former years. Their fears were soon dispelled, however,
when Fr. Meinberg caused a redistribution of old players, placing a seasoned performer at the head of each division. The effect was marvelous, so marked, in fact, that in less than a month they had built up a creditable
repertoire of classical and semi-classic numbers. Much enthusiasm was awakened by the numbers rendered at the St. Ambrose Day Program and immediately followed a landslide for instruments, resulting in a revival that promises
well for the future. The instrumentation and personell of the band of '15 are as
follows:
Solo Cornet - M. Barringer
First Cornet - M. Skelley
Second Cornet - J. Welsh, A. Burke
Third Cornet - F. Wolfe
First Alto - E. Neuzil
Second Alto - R. Hellweg
First Tenor - E. Wehr
Second Tenor - B. McConville
Baritone - T. Wolfe
First Trombone - H. Thomann
Second Trombone - G. Millett
Bass Tuba - A. Jaeger, G. Miller
Drum Snare - G. Potter, V. Gannon
Bass Drum - J. Schmidt
