Description
Francis Cain, 1891. Francis is a native of Estherville, Iowa. He broke into the "Who's Who section by his success as a rapid accountant. Entering in the second month of the
first semester he forged rapidly ahead until he is now almost abreast with the
Senior class. We note with pride such talent and industry and feel certain that in
these days of "hurry up" and get there" spirit the commercial sprinter from
Estherville will not have to advertise for a job.
Ernest Zimmermann, 1900
The fame of St. Ambrose has reached the Canal zone. "Heinie" comes all the
way from Panama. When school opened in September, this ambitious youngster
was nursing a fractured right arm, and he put the pieces in a sling, appeared before the Master of Studies and asked to be promoted to pursue a left-handed course in bookkeeping. Maybe there is something in a name; anyhow, it's E. Z.
for him. He is now a recognized wizard at accounting. He is also a member of
the famous Junior Baseball Team.
Delmar Conway, Davenport, 1898
"Dutch" hails from upper Main Street. He walks to school every morning,
recites at the College, and sleeps at home. What he doesn't know about his lessons, isn't in the book. He turns out balance sheets while you wait, and is charitable with his talent. We see in Delmar the successful Davenport business man.
