And Dutch and Fitz leave. Everybody is sorry to see them go, even the members of the Council. Both took very good care of the parrot when he was sick.
Mother: "Darn it, Earnie, I would go too only I have to finish my new dress."
Earnie: "Oh, but you know you like me too much to leave me in such a heartless
fashion."
Mother gets angry but Earnie manages to pacify her.
Earnie: "Well, let's live in peace and drink to the health of Dutch and Fitz."
Scene 2
Georgie: "Yes, dear, I'll be home in ten minutes. Good-bye."
Georgie (turning to Henry) : "Heinie, you have a number of holes in your socks."
Heinie: "I know it. I guess I'll darn them now."
Domine: "Darn it, I love Mother so much that I can't express myself on this big
sheet of paper."
Harold: "Oh, raspberries! If you don't like it you know what you can do."
Sheppard (to the Council) : "Now you guys get out of here and stay out."
Angerer: "I love the cows and chickens,"
Peshel: ". . . but this is the
life for me."
Sheriff (to the'Council) : "You
men go to your rooms and
leave Sheppard study. The
next time I catch you in this
room I'll send you to report."
Everybody joins in the chorus
of a piece sung by Earnest:
"You can have her now, I've
had her long enough."
