HE S. L. CLUB is not purely a literary or dramatic organization. While development along these lines has been the principal aim of the club nevertheless it has been organized with
the secondary purpose of promoting good fellowship among
its members. It was established at the beginning of the
second semester of the current year by members of the Sophomore Class. Membership in the Club is elective—a four-fifths vote favoring the candidate being necessary for admittance.
The meetings which are held weekly, to a great extent have consisted
of the discussion of current topics, which served to keep the members well
informed on vital matters during this time, the most momentous in the
world's history. The special value of general extemporaneous debating has
been given consideration by the program committee. Consequently many
of the meetings are devoted to practice of this character. By way of diversity social features characterize other meetings which add to the pleasure
and make the society more attractive.
We do not wish to boast but a kind perusal of the minutes of our meetings which are diligently kept by our Secretary will disclose in some degree
the success we have attained in the few months of our existence. Our Club
Song, the words and music of which were written by a member of the
society is typical of our spirit.
