It is 1828 and the setting is Irishman Con
Melody's tavern near Boston. Deluded by
memories of his illustrious past, he parades his
pride to the Yankee townsmen, until finally he
is beaten by the Yankee enemy into a coma.
Destroyed, he destroys his thoroughbred
mare, the once living symbol of his "greatness." This deed means the birth of a new
Con Melody.
