Description

MANNING CLUB: OLDEST CLUB ON CAMPUS
The oldest club on campus, the Manning club, is the Seminary Department's main voice in Saint Ambrose student
government. This is the Seminarian's student council, in that
there is a Senior president, president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and a representative elected from each
class. All 54 Seminarians at the college are automatically
members of this organization.
The Manning Club invites guests to speak on topics in
keeping with the Seminarian's goal in life. Although the
club does not sponsor social activities for the entire school,
it does participate in Homecoming through decoration of
the campus. Also, it has an annual initiation or "new Man"
party, a Christmas party, a St. Patrick's Day party as well
as a Spring picnic.
FRONT ROW: Frank Brandi,
Francis Broh, Dave Hodges,
Larry Johnson. BACK ROW:
Mylo Hurto, Dale Denklau, Al
Van Landuyt, Joe Vize.
Although the local chapter of the American Institute of
Physics is small, it provides its members, who are from both
St. Ambrose and Marycrest, with many interesting and varied
activities. The club has planned projects for the future such
as the building of electrical devices to demonstrate principles. Also, the membership occasionally invites speakers,
such as Mr. E. W. Schwarz from the Sangarno Electrical
Company. Mr. Schwarz spoke in December on the subject of
"Electrical Measurements," and this proved interesting to
the students concerned with the electrical end of Physics.
Other activities which the group sponsors are industry supplied films and field trips to local laboratories.
