ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
"Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble . . ."
From a bubbling mass of pictures, copy, pen and brush the 1963 OAKS was given
animation. Often toiling late into the night the troublesome details were finally overcome
through the combined offerings of varied sources. To all who have contributed, I send out a
kingsize THANKS!
There are individuals and organizations who deserve special acknowledgement because of
their large contribution. Utmost is our moderator, Miss Agnes Renner, whom without this
book would not have gone to press. Many long hours, ideas, and the needed prodding were
her forte. Mr. Don White, Director of Public Information, kept his files constantly open for
us, as did Mr. Leo Miller in the Alumni Office. Father Greene supplied many, many things
which are impossible to evaluate.
Without Mr. and Mrs. James Vinje the aerial photographs would have been unattainable.
Mrs. Spencer saved the staff much tedium by tagging faces with names. Switchboard operator,
Lynne Fenelon, was always willing to supply an endless list of needed phone numbers. Last
second pictures could be found in the AMBROSIAN NEWS office. The Student Council provided some financial aid. Our publisher's representative, Bill (God Bless the Irish) O'Connor,
gave technical knowledge and the finer points of layout and design. FREE STUDIOS donated
the faculty portraits and John Maag contributed many group shots.
With all the feeling I can muster, the staff must be thanked for services supreme. Marty
Garino provided his uncanny artistic ability that enlivens these pages. The essential literary
emphasis was added by the prolific mind of Larry Ashpole. To the class and special editors I
am indebted for fine sections. Phil Moloney shouldered the task of subscription and circulation. A creditable job on advertising was done by Patrick Meegan. Thanks is extended to all
who have purchased ads in our books. My constant harrassing on photographs, suits, identifications, and retakes were well put up with by the student body. And lastly, I humbly thank
Eloise, my 1952 Pontiac, which gave her all, and lived throughout the year on a very lean diet.
Although it is with a sigh of relief that I sign this last page of the 1963 OAKS, it has been
a challenging but rewarding experience.
