SENIOR CLASS OF 1963
In 1959 the present seniors became the first occupants of East Hall.
During these past four years, they have discussed many pertinent topics.
In 1959 the space age arrived with the Soviet launchings of the Luniks.
The St. Lawrence Seaway opened and Chicagoans boasted that their city
was now an ocean port. With the progress of a year, space age science
put TIROS into orbit and Alan Shepherd into the spotlight. These victories
were followed by the amazing TELSTAR. As seniors these discussions
broadened to include the philosophical, economic, political, and social
implications of progress in science and the graduate's role in the world.
