Freshmen Dave Shea and Howie Brown
have their sights set on improving the
track team's standing in the pole vault.
Last spring track Coach Roy
Owen had the task of rebuilding a
team. He had only six letter winners
returning from the 1963 team which
lost only once in dual and triangular
meet competition.
Back for the Bees were Joe Cervantes and Curt Johnson two of the
best middle distance runners in St.
Ambrose history, Tim Carini—miler,
Bill Fulton — sprinter, Doug Miller
—hurdler, and Ken Choquette—javelin. These lettermen plus the services of freshmen quarter milers
John Carroll, Pat Collins, shot-putter
Steve Miclot, and hurdler Wayne
Robertson joined together to form
a fair season.
Fulton and Cervantes again
proved to be work horses. Fulton
ran both the 100 and 220 yard dashes. He was consistently down around
10 seconds all year. Cervantes showed all season he can be one of the
best, his best time coming against
Black Hawk 49.9.
