BASKETBALL
The Bees opened the season with a bang, breaking the century mark in the first two games. In
the second game they broke two school records:
Ron Bohls broke the single scoring record with
44 points and as a team the Bees broke the team
scoring record with 121 points.
After they downed Saint Mary's in the third
game of the season, the bees traveled to Western
Illinois for their first road game and suffered
their first defeat. They then enjoyed a relaxer
as they defeated the alumni in the annual alumni
game. Illinois Normal then fell to the high-scoring Bees.
This set the stage for Christmas vacation for
the majority of Ambrose students, but the cagers
turned their attention to the NIAA Invitational
Tournament at Kirksville, Missouri. The Bees
tasted success here, too, as they captured fourth
place.
With only a few days rest the Bees headed to
Lewis College and due to Ron Summers they
enjoyed a little humor on the court. As he attempted to dunk a shot Ron shattered the bank-
board. Splitting the next two games, the Bees
started a three game winning streak, including
the first defeat of Loras College in five years.
The rest of the season was a seesaw affair with
the Ambrose regular season record ending at
13-11.
The Bees then downed Central College in the
initial round of the Iowa playoffs, but Parsons
College knocked off the Bees to end the 1959-60
season.
