Pictured here are the men who served and protected the people of Oskaloosa, Iowa, back at the turn of the 20th Century. During this period of law enforcement, constables were issued similar equipment to what police officers would use today. They were issued a hand revolver and a billy club while on duty, but did much of their patrolling on horseback or foot.
