Photograph of the Tomlin family, with Ernest standing at far left. (#1) Edwin (father) with blanket over his knee and two walking canes leaning against chair on his left. He was born Feb. 9, 1858, and died Jan. 20, 1911. He was a baker by trade. His father established a bakery in 1865 but Edwin continued the business at a different location (39 St. Annes Road in London). Today descendants of Edwin's son William still carry on the bakery business in Cornwall.
(#2) Harriet (mother) with hand on back of Edwin's chair. She was born Dec. 2, 1853, and died July 8, 1928.
(#3) May (sister) with elbow on Edwin's left knee. She was about age 8 or 9 at the time.
(#4) Grace (sister) sitting to the right of her father Edwin. She was born Sept. 4, 1891, and died in November 1973. In the photo she is 13 or 14 years old. (#5) [Lilly?] (sister) standing to right of her father Edwin. She was born Sept. 5, 1887 and died July 15, 1918, age 30, on a train to or from Scotland where her husband was stationed. She was the recipient of the postcard her brother Ernest sent from the "Titanic", which the family sold for L2400 in 1992. (#6) William (brother) standing behind his father Edwin and holding a tennis racket. He was born Nov. 13, 1878, and died of a heart attack March 26, 1940. His daughter Dorothy married a Mr. Hawkins, and their son George William Kenneth Hawkins was father of Marilyn Powell who provides all of this family information. Her brother Martyn and son Stuart are the ones still engaged in bakery business in Cornwall. (#7) ERNEST PORTAGE TOMLIN, standing at far left of photo. He was born in Canada Sept. 29, 1889, and died April 15, 1912 in the "Titanic" disaster. (#8) Edwin (brother) sitting to the right of Grace. He was born Nov. 14, 1884, and died Jan. 4, 1968. He migrated to Australia in 1912 on s.s. Ophir, his wife and chldren following in 1913 on s.s. Moravian. (#9) Annie (brother Edwin's wife) sitting at far left of photo. (#10) [Albert?] (brother) standing at far right of photo. He was born April 17, 1894, date of death unknown. He married a Daisy Carter.
5. [Lilly?] (sister) standing to right of her father Edwin. She was born Sept. 5. 1887 and died July 15, 1918, age 30. on a train to or from Scotland where her husband was stationed.
