Description
Under Coach James O'Connor, the varsity dribblers enjoyed a very
successful season. They picked up sixteen decisions out of twenty-three
starts. These victories gained them the Iowa Conference Southern
Division title, the runnerup spot in the entire Iowa Conference and
second place in the Midland's Conference.
Behind rapid fire Bob Smiley, new Bee record holder, the cagers of
St. Ambrose upheld the winning tradition of the school. Bob's five-
hundred and thirty-two points shattered the old school record by more
than one-hundred points.
Prospects for next season don't appear too gloomy despite the
loss of Coach O'Connor, and seniors Bill Murdoch, Gola Waters, Don
Berg, Dick Zielinski and Don Mulvihill. Along with a promising group
of Freshmen, several outstanding lettermen will return. These will be,
Len Czarnecki, Howdy Poepsel, Tom Seekamp and Smiley.
