Acknowledgements
A great deal of work goes into a Yearbook that is not always immediately evident in its pages. The
burden of the Editor would be insupportable if it were not for the assistance of many along the way. All
of it was appreciated although not all can be specifically acknowledged. We should like, therefore, to here
express generally our very sincere and grateful thanks to all who co-operated to make the Annual a
success.
More detailed acknowledgement must be made to several upon whom we had occasion at times to lean
heavily. Mr. Thomas Mulligan gave unstintingly of advice and time. I Fr. William Dawson supplied proper
historical background. Mr. Charles Dougherty gave the cheerful support of the Alumni office. Room
space in the Music Building was granted by the Rev. Cletus Madsen, and access to the air waves for
campus publicity was furnished by the Rev. Joseph Hratz. Miss Agnes Renner gave endless encouragement which we shall always gratefully recall. To the Student Council who underwrote our book financially,
and to their genial president Brian Kneafsey, our particular thanks. Mr. Ted Nelson, representative of
Wagners Printers supplied enlightenment and much patience. We also would like to take this opportunity to
express our deepest sympathy regarding the death of a fellow Ambrosian and Oaks staff member, Bill
Komes. We owe, too, a very real debt of gratitude to our various teachers for their understanding! And
we appreciated being able to call on Fr. James Kelleher of the English department for comma fixation and
spiritual solace. To all, then — our warm thanks!
Finally, we wish here to both greet the future St.Ambrose and to salute the past. May the next 75
Years see the fruitful flowering of what was sown so industriously and wisely 75 Years ago.

I The OAKS 1957
Again, as in years previous, the kind consideration and helpful assistance of the many business establishments in this area have made "The Oaks'' financially feasible. Without their continued generosity the
yearbook could no longer exist, resulting in the termination of a traditional aspect of campus life so vital
to every Ambrosian. Needless to say they deserve our utmost gratitude and patronage.
The support of commercial interests is naturally paramount to success, and it as through the capable
work of our two salesmen, Tom Clark and George Ohly, that we were able to obtain it. Helene TeDuits
also played an integral part in our success and she deserves our every thanks.
Mr. William Howes and Mr. Richard Vanek were also instrumental by providing us with their valuable insight into the many problems which invariably arise with the advertising section of a yearbook.
Finally, we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the Student Council, the Classes, and the individual campus clubs whose joint effort made our advertisement goal seem much more a reality.
