Math, Engineering and Physics Club
This year saw the beginning of a new organization on campus. The MEP Club (Mathematics, Engineering and Physics) was founded by a few scientific minded students for
the purpose of furthering the interests and desires of all science students here at St.
Ambrose. The club enjoyed a very successful initial year undertaking tours to various
places, including the Argonne National Laboratories and The Alcoa Aluminum Co. It
was through the endeavors of the MEP Club that many interesting lectures and demonstrations, given by representatives of numerous firms in the area, were made possible for
the enjoyment of club members and fellow students alike. It was also instrumental in
acquiring speakers for scientific groups at our local high schools. One of the highlights
of this year's activities was the club's exhibition in the first Quad-City Science Fair. A
club such as this helps science students of today become scientists tomorrow.
With the growth in importance of scientific fields as time passes, the potential of such
an organization is unlimited, and it is hoped that in future years it will expand with
increased achievements.
