Title
1957 Yearbook
Description
Seated, Left to Right: Jeanne Graham, Tom Fox, Jim Brennan, Brian Kneafsey, Jim Rater, Bert Westemeyer, George
Rauzi. Standing: F. X. McNamara, John Martin, Dick Knapp, Ed Kenney, Tom Hussey, John Vanderslice, Nate Walton,
Jim Schellhammer, Al Engleking, Gerry Brookhart, Bill Gill.
As stated in the constitution of the Student Council, "the object of this council is to cement the relationship of the student body of the college with the faculty by working together on whatever function may be
sponsored by this council in accordance with the rules and regulations of the- college; to promote and
improve conditions which are befitting a Catholic college; to act as a mediation for the student to the
faculty with the object in mind of promoting a more beneficial environment for all concerned."
We have seen this year's Student Council come to the forefront as the students' "tool" for action and
discussion on school problems. The great improvement in food, the new student lounge, the new parent
room, and the amelioration in parking facilities were all brought about through student desires manifested
in the Student Council.
Homecoming was the greatest success in the school's history. The yearbook, a project of the Council,
speaks for itself. Field Day was bigger than ever. This was because the students desired these things and
the Student Council put them into effect.
