Lucy Gomez and Bruce Johnson are joined by alum Tom Faye for
night to remember.
Jim Stangle finds two pretty girls to keep him company.
The Gold Room at the Blackhawk Hotel was the
site of the 1980 Sweetheart Ball. The festive occasion
was held on February 16 and "Dreams" provided the
music for couples to dance to.
Students rapidly piled in after 10:00 and the once
empty room was full of happy, excited and "loving"
people ready to party.
Valentine decorations, to put everyone in the
mood, were soon in the hands of many students
who wanted a special remembrance of such an enchanting evening.
The crowd which attended the ball varied from
students, to faculty, to administration and alumni,
each with full stomachs after dining in some of the
Quad Cities finer restaurants.
When the clock struck 1:00, couples slowly left the
ballroom as they preceded to various locations to
top off their fun-filled evening.
